Tulip embarrassment strikes again

Posted by Catharine on May 15th 2010
Oh no what has happened here?    The tulip called Helmar is very, very yellow but wide slashes of raspberry ripple tone it down. Planted with maroon Tulipa Jan Reus, the raspberry and marroon sing together.  I  visited this customer yesterday and instead of Jan Reus, the wholesaler has given us the black tulip, Queen of the Night. Got home and rang her back to offer to dig up and replant in autumn.  But you know what, the look is fine.  It's e asy to obsess on controlling nature but accidents can quite often furnish the best planting combos.
