the summer garden

Blue salvias shimmer under the weight of visiting bees, the delicate scent of roses and mock orange fill the air. Night scented stock cashes in on still evenings.
Quick tendrils sneak up the bean poles, annuals come on stream and dance - adding to the borders or for cutting and filling the house. Rosemary, sage, thyme and silver leaved allies bask in the sun. The race to keep ahead of the weeds eases up slightly. Dahlias, zinnias and other exotics get planted into the borders. There is a rhythm to sowing and harvesting vegetable crops.
