Process

Contact begins with a telephone chat and an arranged site visit. Prior to this, any site plans that exist should be looked out and your initial wish list for the garden drafted - it will help us decide together on the brief which can range from a modest planting plan for part of a garden, when smaller wallets can buy smaller plants, be patient and grow them on or sow from seed, to a complete redesign which may include structural elements and landscaping.

Site Visit

This can be quite brief - enough to get the measure of the plot and your preferences in terms of style and specific wants. It gives me the opportunity to prepare a proposal which reflects your budget and expectations.

Surveys

It is necessary to survey exactly what the site comprises, from the drainage to hedging and sheds. Annotated onto a scaled survey plan, this will provide a template to work from. Large gardens will need a commissioned Topographical Survey.

Master Plans/Timetabling costing

Scaled plan showing all elements and may include budgets costs.

Planting Plans

Planting plans are prepared after discussion with the client. I generally source the plants from preferred nurseries who will supply the best plants at the best prices. Instructions are given for soil prep and planting.

Teaching

I am a Master Composter so will take you through all the stages required to get your soil healthy and your plants growing well.

Longer Term

Larger projects and gardens may require a report on the state of the site and can include timetabling - with an indication of expense over, say, a 5 year period.

Advice on Tree Surgery and Wilding

This tends to be for larger gardens, and will include collaboration with experts - on conservation, meadows, tree work and habitat creation.
