This is an eyeball view of Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’. I visited two nurseries last week and at both it threatened to jump off the shelves and run after me. Waiting to see whether I still love it in high summer when it hides twisty gyrations behind large but oddly drab leaves. A cracker of a shrub.

Great shrubs but definitely at their best in winter without their leafy coat. Their leaves do look a bit distressed but we enjoy having it in the garden anyway.
Thanks for that – I am about to spend a convivial evening imagining shrubs running and more particularly, their running style. Obviously Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’ gallops like Miranda Hart.
